cockramIn memoriam. Professor Patricia A. Cockram passed away on June 13. Dr. Cockram joined the Department of English in 2000 after receiving her Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center in 1999. During her ten years at Lehman, she received several research awards and fellowships and had a memorable impact on the Department, serving as the Director of the Graduate Program and on various committees. A highly respected Ezra Pound scholar, she published widely and continued her research and writing even as she battled cancer. Read more

obscuraLehman launches new literary magazine: The English Department is pleased to present the resurrection of the Lehman College literary magazine, Obscura. The magazine is edited and produced by Lehman students, and solely features the writing, artwork, and photography of our students. Read More.

Student Award Winners, 2010: At a ceremony held on April 28 in the Lehman Art Gallery, the English Department honored its highest-achieving majors and M.A. students. Read More.

Joseph McElligottFaculty Recognition Award: Joseph McElligott, a lecturer in the English Department, has received one of two faculty recognition awards for service to the School of Arts and Humanities. He is being honored for his work as deputy chair, which includes scheduling classes, updating the department Website, and advising undergraduates, and also for his work as co-director of the City and Humanities Program.
