Adjuncts: Stephanie Stowe
Stephanie is a graduate of New Mexico State University's theater arts program where she performed with the American Southwest Theater Company (ASTC) and studied with Tony award-winning playwright and Academy Award nominated screenwriter, Mark Medoff (Children of a Lesser God, When You Coming Back, Red Ryder). A produced playwright, Stephanie will be teaching playwriting and screen writing courses along with Acting I, during the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters, respectively. Her newest play Saint Vig, premiered with The Bronx Repertory Company in 2010. Other produced work, Dia de los Muertos (Bronx Rep '05), Sparkler (‘05), Little Victories (NYC ‘99) and Yardbird (Bank Street Theater, NYC ‘04). The New York Times called Yardbird, “…gorgeous…enchanted.” Stowe, “creates vivid characters who speak memorably and the three in this play are winners.” Time Out New York said, Little Victories “…transports us to a magical world…” And The New York Times called Little Victories “…truthful, unassuming, written from the heart…”
Repertory acting credits include; She Stoops to Conquer (Kate Hardcastle), One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (Nurse Ratched), Oedipus Rex (Iocaste) and Speed the Plow (Karen). Regional professional credits; Prelude to A Kiss (Rita) Arvada Center for the Arts (Denver), Our Town (Emily). National Tour credits; Twelfth Night (Maria) and The Miracle Worker (Mrs. Keller). Commercial, Print and Industrial credits; Biolage, 1-800 Flowers, AT&T and PBS.
In addition to her writing and acting credits, Stephanie has directed several Lehman College JCT productions including, Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan, Our Lady of 125th Street by Stephen Adley Guirgis and Bug by Tracey Letts, along with the premiere of two new works from the one-act trilogy, The Safety of Strangers, by former student and playwright Juan Monterosso, at the Studio Theater on Theater Row NYC (December ‘10).
Stephanie Stowe has been an Adjunct Lecturer with Lehman College’s Department of Journalism, Communication and Theater (JCT) since 2005.
