Multimedia Journalism at Lehman
A New and Innovative Program
Lehman's new and exciting Multimedia Journalism program is designed to prepare our students to meet the challenges faced by 21st century media professionals.
Given the dramatic economic and technological changes that journalism as a profession has undergone, our Multimedia Journalism Major reflects the realities facing journalists today and places students in positions to enter the profession or go on to graduate study with the academic and professional skills to excel in either environment.
Even before they graduate, Lehman journalism students are encouraged to participate in various internship programs with professional media, both in the U.S. and overseas.
Changing With the Times
Students and future media professionals must be prepared to work in the digital era and across various platforms. They must write and edit, stand in front and behind the TV cameras, shoot photos, design web sites, and even use social networking tools to gather and disseminate the news.
Timed to coincide with the opening of our state-of-the-art, $16 million Multimedia Center, the new Multimedia Journalism (MMJ) Program builds upon the solid foundation laid by our current Multilingual Journalism (MLJ) and Mass Communication (COM) programs. For more than a decade, these programs have established a successful track record in preparing students for careers in the mass media and related communications industries.
