(Photo, John Orth). Attilio's design for the Maine Monument was selected in 1902 from more than forty other entries. Although Attilio sculpted all the figures in clay, his brothers helped carve the final marble versions.Other family members helped too. For instance, the model for the boy with the outstretched arms in the front of the monument was Masaniello's son, Valentine.
