Lehman College and Hostos Community College
Co-Sponsor Festival de la Palabra in New York 2012

festival

Lehman College and Hostos Community College are proud to co-sponsor this San Juan, Puerto Rico-based writer’s festival that attracts thousands of admirers, while celebrating Puerto Rican and world literatures. The goal of the festival is to help launch the internationalization of Puerto Rico and to promote reading and a better understanding of ourselves through literature by showcasing writers, poets and journalists from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain and the United States. Festival de la Palabra is the only literary festival in the world that begins in one city and ends in another, moving in a historical line that echoes the mass migrations of Puerto Ricans to the mainland in the 20th Century.

Festival writers will be visiting Hostos Community College on October 10, and Lehman College on October 11.
