Korean Exchange Program

This is an incredible opportunity to live in a fascinating city for a semester or a year. The offerings in Korea cover many of the disciplines taught at Lehman, and in addition, students study Korean language and culture. Lehman is also host to students from Sungshin. Lehman/CUNY students pay their Lehman/CUNY tuition and remain eligible for financial aid. If you are interested in this program, we will put you in contact with students on both sides of the Exchange who will be able to tell you what it was like to study at Sungshin and live in Seoul.

Meet Our Korean Exchange Students at Lehman

Bokyum Kim

Bokyum Kim is an English Language & literature major and an International Trade & Finance minor. She was an exchange student on the Lehman/Sungshin Exchange Program. Bokyum had always been interested in different cultures and wanted to have an international experience. She notes that her academic experience at Lehman has been very different from that of Korea. ”In the United States, classes are more conversation-based and there is a lot of discourse between the professor and students. In Korea, classes are more lecture-based. Students are able to ask questions, but it is not as open as it is in the US.” Her favorite aspect of the experience is being able to make friends with people from very diverse cultural backgrounds. She hopes to come away with a better knowledge of written and spoken English and a well-rounded understanding of American culture.
