Borough President to Deliver State of Borough Address Feb. 20
Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión will present his final State of the Borough Address at the Lehman College Center for Performing Arts. The event, which is open to the campus community and the public, will take place on Friday, February 20, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. To attend, guests must R.S.V.P. to 718-590-6397 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The address will likely touch on the borough’s employment rate, the environment, the economy, and some of the initiatives his office his taken on these issues.
Borough President Carrión took over the office in 2001 and due to term limits is not expected to seek a third term. Born in lower Manhattan, he earned his bachelor's degree at Kings College and his master's in urban planning from Hunter College. After completing his studies, he worked for the Bronx office of the Department of City Planning and later went on to become the district manager for Community Board 5.
Prior to his election as Borough President, he served on the New York City Council, representing the 14th Council District. He was a member of the Economic Development, Education, Higher Education, Environmental Protection, Governmental Operations, and Land Use committees.
