Last year, an estimated 325,000 people visited their local movie theaters to enjoy select performances from the Opera’s 2006-2007 season. This year, more than 600 venues in North America, Australia, Europe, and Japan will participate in the Met’s ground-breaking series. Through this significant global expansion, Metropolitan Opera: Live in High Definition is expected to reach an audience of up to one million viewers for the entire series.

Founded in 2003 as part of the Bronx New Century High School Initiative/New Visions for Public Schools, the Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music combines a rigorous academic program with high-quality music instruction, which the students receive with assistance from the Lehman College Music Department.
