The Career Exploration & Development Center (CEDC) conducts a variety of workshops including the following:

MAKE YOUR RESUME POP!

Develop practical skills and learn how to write an effective professional resume that will help you stand out during your job search.

THE INGREDIENTS OF A PERFECT COVER LETTER

This is an interactive workshop in which you will have the opportunity to outline your targeted cover letter. This workshop will furnish you with the knowledge and skills required to craft an effective cover letter which highlights your qualifications for that position. You are required to bring a job description of a position for which you are interested in applying.

MASTERING THE ART OF INTERVIEWING

Develop an understanding of the interview process, the importance of professional attire and follow-up guidelines. You will also become familiar with typical questions that employers may ask in an interview, strategies for responding, and have an opportunity to practice.

MOCK INTERVIEW CLINIC - Prerequisite: Mastering the Art of Interviewing

In this practice session you will be interviewed by a professional to help you develop your communication, interpersonal skills, and confidence in an interview. Dress professionally as if you were on an actual interview.

ELEVATOR PITCH

An elevator pitch (or elevator speech) is a short summary used to quickly and simply define you and your promise of value to an organization/profession.  Come prepared to write your own elevator pitch and role-play with peers and professionals.        

INTERNSHIP 101

High grades are not enough! Employers look for candidates who have had experience and who can demonstrate leadership, teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.  An internship is one of the best ways to build on your resume to attract an employment recruiter. Learn about the benefits of internships and where/how to find one.

LINKEDIN 101

Familiarize yourself with the benefits of LinkedIn as a powerful networking tool in executing your job search.

THE RIGHT MAJOR FOR YOU - Room - TBA

Explore the different careers for which your major will prepare you!  Learn about your options and how to combine your academic program with your experience to prepare for life after college.
