David Gonzalez

Hi, my name is David Gonzalez. You’re probably wondering, "who the heck is David Gonzalez?" Well that's what I'm here for. I'm a 16 year old guy born and raised in the Bronx. I enjoy singing and playing my piano. I also play piano for my church, which I love dearly. My favorite colors are crimson and midnight blue. Favorite food would have to be pastelitos without a doubt. Oh and I forgot to mention but I'm a Puerto Rican. Both my parents came from Puerto Rico. Currently my favorite song would have to be "Brother" by NEEDTOBREATHE featuring Gavin Degraw. I'm very adventurous and love to try new things. I care about my friends and family more than I do myself. So that's a little bit about me.

Paola Guzman

My name is Paola Guzman. I am currently a rising 12th grader, hoping to experience all that is necessary for my future to be brighter. Schools/programs in New York have given me that opportunity as a student, which I am grateful for. My priorities/goals include experiencing a vast variety of knowledge which can be opened to me, transforming something that needs to be transformed and living life to the fullest. This allows me to learn who I am and what I can be every day, and I enjoy that feeling of encountering the unique and grand. The wide variety the world can offer amazes me and as a person I am intrigued by the arts and literature. I am willing to try anything for the better as a creative ready-to-learn student of life.

Sara Mandelbaum

Sara Mandelbaum is working backstage in the theater program in the Summer Multimedia Arts Festival. She has been in The Sound of Music as Sister Sophia and in the Little Mermaid as Sebastian the crab with Polaris Productions. She is in RKA P.S. 141 going to 11th grade with her favorite subjects being math and social studies along with her interests of singing, karate, and corny jokes. Thank you to Roberto who made the stagecraft class even more fun with his joyful personality. She also wants to thank her teacher Professor Scott for teaching her the magic behind the curtain. Thank you Scott for giving me the opportunity to unravel the art of theater!

Glendi Rodriguez

I am Glendi Rodriguez and I am from San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Fun fact, the H is silent. I was raised here in the Bronx since the age of four. I have lived near the same area for years now, and have not traveled a lot. I was born on February 15, 2001, which makes me an Aquarius. I am currently sixteen years old, filled with ambitions and dreams. I have an older sister, currently going to college. She is someone I aspire to be. One interesting thing about me is my love for cultures. I have ventured off to different cultures and hope to gain knowledge about more cultures. I have no pets, but would like to adopt a cat. My friends would describe me as awkward yet, surprisingly fun to be with. I, on the other hand, believe myself to be patient and innovated. “The only responsibility I have is to maintain my happiness” is my motto.

Laury Santana

My name is Laury Santana. I was born a Gemini in the Dominican Republic. I'm a senior in high school and I'm probably the only teenager that’s going to say this … I love school.  From a very young age, I learned to appreciate the importance of school. My mother made sure that school was always a priority for me and my siblings because she had learned the hard way. Today I'm getting  more of  the taste of adulthood  through opportunities like the summer arts program, College Now classes, community service opportunities and finishing high school. I'm hoping experiences like these not only help me prepare to be the future college student I aim to be, but also I'm looking forward to learning from my mistakes and also my classmates. I consider myself to be a hard worker and that is what I will continue to be.

J’nai Spires

Hello! My name is J’nai Spires. I currently attend Pelham Preparatory Academy High School, and I participate in a few college prep courses at Lehman College. As a rising senior in high school, I was able to learn many skills in my previous years that helped me learn what I know now, which will definitely benefit me in the long run. I have many interests, and I certainly enjoy all of them. However, what I enjoy most is writing, and the freedom that comes from it. I mostly favor creative writing, as I feel that it is an expression of one’s thoughts and ideas, without the limitations of restrictions. In addition to writing, I also enjoy playing instruments. One of my favorites to play and to listen to is the cello because of the pure and full sound that comes along with it. After high school is over, I would hope to continue in a career in writing that would allow me to be the writer I aspire to be.

Leny Vargas

Hi, My name is Leny Vargas. I am a student at Mott Hall V. My nationality is Peruvian. I have many interests and am open to various subjects in school. I'm student who tried her best to be responsible and noble. Currently in school I have been in the JSA which is a great experience for me. I was able to see many debates on different points of views and able to experience controversial topics and how to speak to an audience. I'm also enrolled in a ceramics program that helped me to express my emotions through making art. And later on I joined a Marine Cadet program which was a very unexpected experience since I didn't plan to join but it has shaped and contributed to who I am today. I worked for an organization called Read Alliance which was a working job that I enjoyed. In that job you had to help and read with first graders. It felt good to help little kids to improve in their reading skills and to help them with their struggles with words that they aren't able to understand.
