    Hospitality and Meeting Planning

    The Hospitality and Meeting Planning Certificate is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to enter and excel in this exciting industry. Topics of study include tourism entrepreneurship, hotel operations, meeting planning, portfolio preparation, and the business operations of hospitality and meeting planning.

    Students will study in state-of-the art computer labs with industry experts. Students will operate a hospitality or meeting planning company in a task-oriented simulated business environment. This practical hands-on learning experience encompasses forming and organizing a business, trading products and services, team-building for decision-making, banking and stock market investing.

    The certificate program includes an internship in a hospitality or meeting planning venue where students will integrate theory, acquired skills, proficiency, and practice in an actual business environment. Upon completion of the certificate program, students will be able to broaden their job opportunities and advance in the expanding field of hospitality and meeting planning.



    Food Service Operations Certificate

    The Food Service Operations Certificate is designed to provide students with the competencies, skills, and professionalism to excel in the nation's largest business--the food service industry. Topics include tourism entrepreneurship, event catering management, restaurant and food service operations, portfolio preparation, and the business operations of the food service industry.

    Students will study in state-of-the-art computer labs with instructors with advanced degrees and talented chefs with significant industry contact and experience. Mini-seminars on cooking techniques, preparation styles, food handling, and food safety will be offered in a commercial teaching kitchen.

    Students in this program will operate a virtual food service operations company in a task-oriented simulated business environment. This practical hands-on learning experience encompasses creating, developing and organizing a business, trading products and services, team-building for decision making, banking and stock market investing.

    An internship in a food service company is provided to give students the experience to integrate theory, acquired skills, proficiency and practice in an actual business environment. Upon completion of the certificate program, students will have the knowledge and skills to open their own restaurant or manage a restaurant or catering establishment.

    Tuition for each program is $2,500 (fees and texts not included). Note: Students may be eligible for a Workforce Voucher, Sallie Mae loan or other educational loan
