Thanks For The Memories

As the MASTER Summer Program draws to a close, Ms. McCabe, Ms. Stark and Ms. Grossberg want to praise the accomplishments of all participants.

Staff and students alike have worked diligently and with a zest for learning. The friendships MASTERITES have formed combined with the camaraderie exhibited during the Academic Olympics will serve you well as you prepare for careers in the next century.

The instructors have presented a series of stimulating and informative labs exposing students to experiments and data unavailable in the traditional high school setting. They have made the four weeks fly by and have brought excitement and great enthusiasm to the program.

We are proud of our MASTERITES interest in pursuing activities which are academically challenging. Endeavors such as MASTER will reflect well on future college applications.

Wishing you a very healthy and happy summer. We hope you will complete your summer reading while undertaking some very restful and pleasant activities.

Until the fall...

Meet Our MASTER Leaders

Iesha A. Henry - This is Iesha's third year in the program. Iesha is a junior at SUNY Stonybrook majoring in Social Work and Health Care. She will begin an internship at Einstein in the fall. In her spare time, Iesha enjoys listening to music, talking on the telephone and reading romance novels and mysteries. After graduation, Iesha plans to pursue a Master's Degree in Social Work. Her reaction to MASTER -"The program is very good because it allows students to acquire hands-on knowledge in science and technology."

Josie Taub - Josie is new to our program. She is presently a sophomore at Lehman College majoring in Mathematics/Engineering and minoring in Early Childhood Education. In September, Josie will be working full time as a Teacher's Aide in a private nursery school in Manhattan while attending Lehman. After graduation, Josie would like to enter the Air Force. In her spare time, she loves to play pool, participate in sports, write poetry and take care of her four pets.

Kisha Bazelais - Kisha just graduated from Clinton and will be attending Franklin & Marshall College in September. She plans on majoring in psychology with a desire to enter medical school and become a child psychiatrist. Kisha spends her free time going to movies, listening to the radio, "hanging-out" with friends, and reading. Kisha feels "the MASTER program is beneficial to both students and myself."

Howard A. Webly - Howard is a former graduate of DeWitt Clinton, Class of 1996, and is currently a sophomore at Massachusetts-Amherst where he plans to major in Microbiology. Victor Lopez Victor is a recent graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School and will be attending Boston University in the fall. He would like to major in Biology with an eye toward Pre-Medicine. At Clinton, Victor played football and hopes to eventually play football at Boston. During his free time Victor enjoys listening to a variety of music and dancing. The Second Summer
By Dr. Anne Rothstein

This is the second summer of the NASA PreCollege Awards for Excellence in Mathematics, Science, Engineering and Technology (PACE/MSET) program at Lehman College. This MASTER program builds upon the previous programs MSET but emphasizes science, mathematics, engineering and technology areas relevant to NASA. The coordinators, teachers, group leaders and office staff deserve your cheers and thanks for their efforts in planning and conducting the program. You, of course, are the most important ingredient and the reason we have the program. Your enthusiastic participation in all activities, your continuing interest in MSET, and your success in high school, college and beyond provide the gratification we need to continue our efforts on your behalf.
