Thursday, July 25, is the date of the final Olympics competition. The prizes, Jansport backpacks, have arrived. The groups are reviewing their work to make sure that they are well prepared.

The third round of the competition saw a complete reversal in the standings. Bx. Mafia moved to first place from last and "?" moved from first to last. This should not be so surprising, as the Bx. Mafia accumulated the most points the previous week.

Silverio Vasquez is a very interested student.

Silverio Vasquez (Group D) had the most challenges. However, the challenges did not lead to a point increase for his group. Silverio’s questions indicated that he was really paying attention.

Students have become more intense. They now wait for the New York Times to be delivered. Group leaders are spending more time preparing their teams. Jency Thermadan and the Unhurduvs are studying during their lunch periods.

So, as we get ready for the final contest, it is hoped that all students found their summer to be an enjoyable learning experience.

Masterites are all to be commended for their enthusiasm for learning in that they spent half of their summer vacation in school.

Masterites are all winners!

"The best part was making the hot air balloons because I learned a lot. I haven’t taken physics yet. When I get to that course, I’m really going to enjoy it."       Arlene Jerez (Group A)

"It was a rewarding experience. The program gave me insight into the different sciences. It was interesting to use team work and problem solving to solve and build different experiments."     Jonathan Scatliffe (Group A)

"It was interesting, especially the Web Page design because I didn’t know that much about computers."     Felicia Cochrane (Group B)

"This program gave me something interesting to do this summer." Heimdall Imbert (Group B)

"I got a view of what Physics will be like this September. The classes were fun and challenging."     Shishana Evans (Group A)

"I enjoyed the Academic Olympics because it helped me study. The competition gave me something to study for."     José Tavarez (Group A)

"You get to know the kids much better because you get to spend so much time with them. The projects were challenging, but cool. I never thought I would get to build a hot air balloon."     Indira Simono (Group D)
