V. Purposes (Course Objectives): Students will be able to
- practice skills involving analyses used in forensic investigations; including
fingerprinting, soil, hair, document, blood, fiber, paper, drug analyses, urinalysis, and
paper chromatography.
- use scientific inquiry and analytical skills to solve two criminal scenarios.
- Use the compound microscope to analyze material typically found at a crime scene.
- describe the role of different organizations in forensic investigations.
VI. Overview: (Course Description):
- forensic science offers the student an opportunity to practice the same tasks carried
out by a criminal investigations unit.
- applied scientific skills and problem-solving skills are integrated during simulated
criminal investigations.
- participants develop literacy skills as they work in teams to determine THE EVIDENCE
motives and alibis, THEN finally communicate their findings.
