 Course Description

 Week 1 Topics

1.    Introduction to Forensic Science: Modus Operandi (Fingerprinting) Part
Students will act as suspects and officers to simulate the procedures after an arrest has been made.

2.     Part II: Analyzing Fingerprints after being divided up into groups.
Students will learn about ridge impressions and the various types of ridges.

Deductive Reasoning Worksheet.
Students will work on deducing through factual statements who committed the murder of Mr. Brown.

3.     Document Examination Unit
Students will learn the twelve characteristics in which forensic scientist use to analyze handwritten documents.

Forensic Pathology
Students will learn about screening test and confirmation test for various drugs.

4.    Forensic Mineralogy
      Students will learn how soil differ in pH, coarseness and color.

Crime Scene Unit:
Training in the proper recognition, collection, and preservation of physical evidence.

Week 2 Topics

1.     Hair analysis. Crime Scene 3: The Drug  Bust
Students will use prior knowledge in handwriting analysis; fingerprinting analysis while learning new techniques in chromatography.

2.     Forensic Odontology:
     Students will learn about dental structure and also cast their teeth and prepare dental records.

Crime Scene 2: Kidnapping case (The Case of Jason  Worth)
Students will use prior knowledge for example handwriting analysis, fingerprinting analysis while learning new techniques in fiber analysis.

3.   Crime Scene 1: The Case of Lois McArthur Kit
Students will use prior knowledge on handwriting analysis; fingerprinting analysis while learning new techniques in blood analysis. Students will analyze the various blood types and if it is positive or negative.

Students in their respected groups will create their own crime scene with the knowledge they gather from the previous cases to create their own crimes. Afterwards there criminal case will be solved by another group by techniques learned throughout the class.

4.      Students will discuss their analysis and views from the previous day case on who committed the crime and why it was done. The opposing groups will hear the analysis and shed light on any confusions.
