The dissection of a shark (dogfish) and a rat is used to analyze structure and function. The data obtained will be used to compare both organisms in terms of their structural / functional similarities and differences. In order to gain an understanding of chemicals that have physiological affects on the body we will analyze and quantify various sources ascorbic acid. Similarly various sources of aspirins, buffers, and antacids will be analyzed and quantified for comparison. The role of the essential amino acids and their chemistry will also be examined.
