Welcome Students!
Electronic portfolios or ePortfolios are an exciting way for you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and disposition through a purposeful collection and display of work and experiences. You can collect, organize and present various assignments, experiential evidence, and reflections that demonstrate your learning and expertise.

You are a part of a pilot project in the Division of Education exploring the use of electronic portfolios. Your participation, thoughts and experiences will be valuable to us as we explore and develop the use of ePortfolios in our programs.

Use your ePortfolio as a unique opportunity to capture and present your educational career in the Division of Education at Lehman College.

The ePortfolio tool will allow you to:
Merge your personal and professional goals, putting your education into a larger context
Organize and showcase your work
Document academic and professional development by reflecting on learning artifacts/assignments in alignment with programmatic goals, objectives and national standards.
See how various courses in a program connect to help you become effective teachers.

In addition, you can showcase your work using text, pictures, presentation tools (i.e. PowerPoint), audio, or video!

ePortfolio Grant and Pilot Project:
We are excited to report that the Division of Education at Lehman College was selected to participate in Year Two of Making Connections: An ePortfolio Mini-Grant & Seminar Program supported by LaGuardia Community College and The Fund for Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE), an agency of the US Department of Education. The proposal was selected for "its vision, thoughtful planning, and potential benefit both for students and faculty."

The Division of Education is introducing ePortfolios as an educational tool for students to document academic and professional development, organize and showcase their work and reflect on learning artifacts in alignment with programmatic goals, objectives and national standards. Through ePortfolios students will see how various courses in a program connect to help them become effective practitioners. In addition, students can showcase their work using text, pictures, audio, or video, thereby increasing their use of and engagement with technology.

In spring 2009 semester, 30 students (from two cohorts, and two course sections, introductory and capstone) will be introduced to the online ePortfolio system, Digication. Dr. Janet DeSimone, coordinator of the Educational Leadership program, will pilot the use of this tool in her classes. Considerable support, pre-planning and evaluation are a cornerstone of this pilot, as the planned expansion of ePortfolios is largely dependent on its success.

The ePortfolio Leadership Team includes Professor Minaz Fazal, Instructional Technology Coordinator Leslie Lieman and Associate Provost Robert Whittaker, who is joining the team for Year Two. Professor Scott Wolfson was an active participant during Year One. Special thanks to Clayton McCarl, Adjunct Instructor and Tech Fellow, for his assistance and tech support.
