The Department of Latin American and Puerto Rican Studies celebrates 40 years. Founded in 1969 as the first program of Puerto Rican Studies in the United States, LAPRS has always been at the cutting edge of Puerto Rican, Dominican, Latin American, Latino, and now Mexican and Mexican-American studies. Featuring a multidisciplinary faculty who are leaders in their fields, LAPRS is a center for scholarship, teaching, and service.
