Andrea Borghese Apolo
“My family emigrated from Ecuador when I was in elementary school. I helped support them through my high school years and into my first years of college. As a result my grades were poor, but Lehman gave me a chance to prove myself. By allowing me to enter through the SEEK program, Lehman provided me with academic support and incredible opportunities. I worked very hard and had a lot of nurturing professors, especially in the Chemistry, English, and Biology departments."

Coming out of high school, Gregorio Valdez knew very little about the sciences. Now the 1996 Lehman graduate is a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University’s Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology.
