Audio in an HTML file:  the clip must have a small file size

(large clips should be on CD or on a web site)

Make sure you have your html file and sound file are in the same folder, and also your image if you use option 1.

1) Create an image. Here it has the text "heart sounds."  Create an html file and insert the image.

Select the image. Click Insert, Link, choose your audio file, click OK.

OR

2) Type your text and select it. Click Insert, Link, Choose your audio file, click OK.

heart sounds
The sound file used here is called 00b10001.wav -- the file size is 62 kb. Make sure that the extension is shown (here, it is ".wav").

Now save the file as ....html.

Then go to browse/preview and test your html file by clicking on the image for option 1, or on the text for option 2.

Upload both the html file and the media file(s) to your webpage.
