Discussion Board


A good tool to use so students can learn to interact with each other, not only with the instructor. If you require participation, students who may hesitate in class may respond here. This is asynchronous, everyone at a time of his/her own choosing.

Click Discussion Board on the Main Menu. (For some reason, this is also in the Communication Area; looks the same.)





To post a new Forum or question,
Click Control Panel Course Tools > Discussion Board, Add Forum, type a topic and instructions, select Forum Settings. Click Submit.




Here is an example with responses.
Note that each response to the topic is indented. A response to a response is doubly indented.
All entries here are labeled "NEW" which means they have not been read.




Doubleclick on a Forum / Thread to open it.
Note that you can send e-mail to a student about an answer, or that you can respond to the answer on the Discussion Board, for all to read.
You can also archive a forum and then make it available to the students. Click Show Options.
You can also add a new Thread.
