Position Announcement: Inaugural Dean, School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing
Lehman College of The City University of New York is seeking to recruit an experienced and inspiring leader to serve as the inaugural Dean of the new School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing. In addition to significant leadership skills, candidates should demonstrate exceptional academic and administrative skills and a record of innovation.
The new School grew out of Lehman's focus on education, research and service, excellent programs in the health sciences, human services and nursing, and a commitment to improving the health-related outcomes of individuals, communities and populations. The Dean will provide the vision and leadership to integrate health promotion, human services and nursing in an urban setting and foster collaboration across the College and with external partners. The inaugural Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing will provide academic and administrative leadership for the undergraduate and graduate programs within the School and participate in the development of College-wide policies and University initiatives. The Dean will foster an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment by building on faculty strengths and oversee four academic departments: Health Sciences (Health Education and Promotion; Recreation Education; Therapeutic Recreation; Dietetics, Food and Nutrition; Health Services Administration; Exercise Science and Public Health), Nursing, Social Work and Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. The Dean will also will provide leadership to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity housed at Lehman College and develop partnerships between the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing and the health community in the Bronx and beyond. In this way, the Dean will be the principal spokesperson for the School and the College in national and international forums and before governmental agencies.
