Professors Robyn C. Spencer (History) and Mary Phillips (Africana Studies), along with two colleagues, recently published a powerful essay on the Ms. Magazine blog, “Black Panther Mania: From Oakland to Wakanda.”

Professor Eric Delson (Anthropology), along with several colleagues and a CUNY doctoral student, recently authored a paper in the prestigious science journal PLOS One, “Evaluating causes of error in landmark-based data collection using scanners.”

Shuster Awards provide up to $4,800 in support of faculty projects. Proposals for the 2018-2019 award cycle are due March 23rd. More information and how to apply.
Art Department Visiting Artist Lecture Series
Lectures by Sabin Howard on February 22th; Scherezade Garcia on March 7th; Emily Mae Smith on April 18th; and Jordan Casteel on May 2nd. All lectures begin at 5pm in the Art Gallery and are open to the public. See the full lecture schedule.
New Verification of Enrollment Rules!
Every semester federal regulations require us to verify that students are attending class or engaging in other academic activities. If the college does not verify attendance/enrollment, then students risk losing their financial aid. Verification of Enrollment (VOE) rosters will be available on February 20th. Please complete and submit VOE rosters by March 2nd.

Tickets for this fundraising event are priced at $50, $25, and $10 for CUNY students with ID. (Free admission for Lehman students.) Proceeds will support the John Corigliano Scholarship Fund.

An interdisciplinary, day-long symposium discussing the value of political and apolitical work--in our classrooms, on our campuses, and in our scholarship--as it relates to activism within underrepresented communities.
Celebrating Black History Month at Lehman
Consider including Lehman’s Black History Month events on your syllabus, offering extra credit and/or bringing your classes to attend them. You are especially encouraged to join the campus community for "Resistance Between Walls and Borders,” a day-long program with movies, panels, guest speakers, activists, and Lehman faculty on Wednesday, February 28th.
Responsible Conduct of Research Workshop
Thursday March 8th, 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
CUNY requires that researchers (faculty, students, and post-docs) be versed in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) principles and meet training requirements. This spring’s CUNY-wide RCR workshop will be held at the CUNY Graduate Center in the Proshansky Auditorium (Concourse level), 365 Fifth Avenue (at 34th St.).

The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is the College's chief academic officer and senior member of the Cabinet. The Provost is responsible for all educational programs, as well as for academic issues that relate to the faculty, including appointments, promotions, and evaluations.
