Office of the Provost: This Week at Lehman

29 May 2019

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Tomorrow, we celebrate a milestone, the largest graduating class in Lehman’s history (more than 3700 students). We celebrate the accomplishments of our students, and we send them off to commence the next chapter in their lives.

We are a college where education is a life changing phenomenon, serving the Bronx and communities beyond, with a focus on equity and social justice. Tomorrow, our students go forth with these values to make our community and country better and stronger.

Our promise to educate, engage, empower, transform lives and ignite new possibilities is the reason young women, men and adults in the Bronx and beyond come to us. We are a vital community of teachers, learners, scholars and activists at the crossroads of that promise, dedicated to an ideal etched in stone by our founders, of working together "to enrich the human spirit, and offer to as many as (could) realize their potential, the opportunity to be so enriched."

I thank our faculty and staff for what you do every day, and look forward to continuing the work together to achieve the strategic priorities of Lehman College as the most mission-critical college in the City University of New York.
