Happy October! 
Every month, the Office of Prestigious Awards shares with the campus community upcoming 
deadlines for nationally competitive awards. Nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships 
are funded by foundations, non-profit organizations and government agencies to help students 
fund graduate school, research and other scholarly pursuits. 
While the criteria for nationally competitive awards vary, students are generally asked to present 
evidence of their academic achievement, sustained community service, community affiliations, as 
well as other unique requirements important to the sponsoring organization. 
If you are thinking of graduate school or pursuing nationally competitive research and other 
scholarly opportunities, these awards will help you fund these academic goals. We encourage 
you to begin your application as soon as you read this digest. Contact us at

AWARDS WITH DEADLINES IN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS 

DAAD University Summer Course - This program 
provides scholarships to attend a broad 
range of three- to four-week summer courses 
at German universities, which focus mainly on 
German language, and literary, cultural, political 
and economic aspects of modern and contemporary 
Germany. 
ELIGIBILITY 
• Undergrad: sophomore-senior; Graduate 
students 
• Open to international students 
• Completed 2 years of German language/B-1 
level proficient

FOUNDATION DEADLINE - December 15th

NDSEG Fellowship Program is a highly competitive, 
portable fellowship that is committed to 
increasing the number of the nation’s scientists 
and engineers. 
ELIGIBILITY 
• Open to those who have attained a bachelors 
degree 
• Open to graduating seniors and beginning 
graduate students 
• Must be pursuing a doctoral degree 
• U.S. citizen

FOUNDATION DEADLINE - December 9th

The MD/PhD Partnership Training Program is 
designed to encourage the success and development 
of students pursuing a future as physician-
scientists in basic and translational biomedical 
research. The program fosters innovative 
and interdisciplinary PhD partnerships in 
an accelerated setting with a completion time 
of approximately four years. 
ELIGIBILITY 
• Open to those who have attained a bachelors 
degree 
• Limited to those pursuing physician scientist 
• Must qualify for acceptance in MD/PHD 
training at US institution in their chosen 
PHD program

The Ford Foundation seeks to increase the 
diversity of the nation’s college and university 
faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial 
diversity, to maximize the educational benefits 
of diversity, and to increase the number of 
professors who can and will use diversity as a 
resource for enriching the education of all 
students.` 
ELIGIBILITY 
• Open to Bachelors degree holders and 
students not enrolled in college (during the 
time of applying) 
• Open to DACA & Permanent Residents 
• Limited: STEM, Behavioral and Social Sciences 
& Humanities 
• Emphasis on underrepresented groups

The National Institutes of Health Oxford-Cambridge 
Scholars Program is an accelerated, 
individualized doctoral training program for 
outstanding science students committed to 
biomedical research careers. 
ELIGIBILITY 
• Open to those who have attained a bachelors 
degree 
• Limited to those doing biomedical studies 
• Must qualify for acceptance in program at 
Oxford and Cambridge
