Strategic Plan For Lehman College 2005 - 2007

Dear Colleagues, Students, Alumni and Friends:
In May 2005, the Lehman College Strategic Plan, Three Year Planning Horizon 2005-2007 was presented to the campus community. During the past few months, "goal teams" comprised of faculty, students and staff have been working to develop strategies, timelines, action plans and accountability measures for the six goals and their corresponding objectives. Their work product is presented in the documents titled "Scope of Work" that follow the goal statements.
The process to refresh the Strategic Plan to a new three-year planning horizon will begin shortly. Objectives will be removed when they are accomplished or when it is determined they are no longer consistent with institutional goals; and new objectives will be added to respond to emerging priorities and opportunities. The Strategic Plan will be aligned with the University planning process as well as with the College's resource allocation to ensure a collaborative, effective integration of activities.
We will continue to move the College forward in a thoughtful, deliberate way. As we do so, we will continue to engage the campus community in meaningful ways in the planning process. You will also be kept informed of the progress made toward accomplishing the goals and objectives.

Goals
- 1. Create an environment that encourages the development of students who are committed to lifelong learning, well prepared for their chosen careers and ready to contribute to their communities.
Scope of Work for Goal 1. - 2. Provide a curriculum and resources essential to an outstanding liberal arts and sciences and professional curriculum.
Scope of Work for Goal 2. - 3. Foster scholarship, artistic endeavors, teaching and learning.
Scope of Work for Goal 3. - 4. Increase, manage and allocate the financial, material and human resources to support the mission and strategic plan of Lehman College.
Scope of Work for Goal 4. - 5. Engage in academic and outreach activities that identify Lehman College as the leading institution serving the educational, professional, cultural and recreational needs of the Bronx and surrounding region.
Scope of Work for Goal 5. - 6. Identify and communicate the distinctive characteristics, values and impact of Lehman College in order to enhance its image and standing.
