Speaker Series Begins with Bronx D.A. Oct. 15

The Center for Urban Male Leadership at Lehman will host the first of
its new "Speaker Series" with Bronx District Attorney Robert T.
Johnson on Wednesday, October 15, from 3-5 p.m. in the Lovinger
Theatre. His talk is entitled "The Power of Education for Urban
Leaders."
Johnson was elected to his office in 1989 and is the first African-
American to occupy the post in the history of New York State. A native
New Yorker, Johnson is committed to community improvement through drug
rehabilitation, community outreach, and crime prevention.
"It is my belief that knowledge is power," explains Adjunct Professor
and Center Director Michael Deas. "This series is designed to increase
the chance of success for students by empowering them with the most
informative and influential speakers possible."
The Center for Urban Male Leadership is dedicated to the success and
progressive development of Lehman students, with an emphasis on black
and Latino males. It is open to all students.
