Irish-American Studies Institute Offers Two Online Courses
The Institute is also accepting registrations for its three-credit graduate course "Teaching About The Great Irish Famine," featuring lectures by Prof. Maureen Murphy of Hofstra University. The course can also be taken on a non-credit lecture. The online component will run from August 29-December 23, and the on-location component will be held during Columbus Day weekend (October 8-10), with excursions to: Ellis Island, the Great Irish Hunger Memorial at Battery Park, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum and other historical sites and memorials. The price of $1,100 includes online lectures and in-person workshops, excursions, two nights' accommodation at Fitzpatrick's Hotel in New York City (two breakfasts and one dinner included) and a copy of the New York State Great Irish Famine Curriculum.
