Women's Studies Sponsors Series of Talks Focusing on Women's Issues

>Dr. Rochelle G. Saidel
In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Dr. Rochelle Saidel, founder and executive director of the Remember the Women Institute, will speak on the topic of the forgotten women of the Holocaust on Monday, April 24, at 2 p.m. in the Room B-39 of Carman Hall. This talk is co-sponsored by the new Lehman Hillel.
On Wednesday, April 26, join author Angela Lee Chen for a talk on the benefits of acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Tai-Chi, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., in Room B-39 of Carman Hall. Chen is an expert in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, medical message and Tai Chi and author of Living Artfully.
The lecture series will conclude on Thursday, April 27, with a talk by Lehman Professor Marcia Gallo (History) on Sojourners for Peace and Justice, the interracial women's organization created in 1951 in New York City. This talk will be held in Room 221 of Carman Hall from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
Professor Gallo is an expert in sexuality and sex/gender roles, and social change movements in the United States. Her studies have appeared in the Journal of Lesbian Studies, The Women's Forum and Contemporary Sociology: A Journal of Reviews, published by the American Sociological Association. She is the author of Different Daughters: A History of the Daughters of Bilitis and the Birth of the Lesbian Rights Movement.
