Lehman Taking Part in Creole Videoconference Feb. 21
Lehman College is taking part in a live videoconference hosted by the International Organization of Creole People (Organisation Internationale des Peuples Créoles) aimed at uniting the world's diverse Creole populations. The conference will take place on Wednesday, February 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be presented in French and Creole. All are welcome to participate, however, since the majority of the planned participants are also English-speaking.
Broadcasting from York University in Toronto, the conference will feature an international cast of participants from Australia, the Caribbean, and Mauritius Island. Its purpose is to establish ways of promoting the cultural values shared by the Creole community and to create a foundation for networking and collaboration among the diverse groups.
For more information on the conference or to participate, e-mail Professor Thomas Spear at spear@lehman.cuny.edu.
