Adjunct Professor Nabs Two Emmy Nominations

Walter Garaicoa
Nominated in the Best Program Editor category, "The World Is Coming to Hunts Point" documents a bustling area in the eastern corridor of the Bronx. Produced by BronxNet in conjunction with the Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation, the program will be cablecast on BronxNet Channel 67, on Friday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m.
"Chihuly at the Garden" was nominated in the Short Form Photographer category, and it features a glass installation at the New York Botanical Garden created by artist Dale Chihuly. It was originally cablecast as part of the BronxNet call-in program OPEN.
A three-time Emmy award-winner, Garaicoa is a Lehman alumnus who also holds degrees from Bronx Community and Hostos Community Colleges. As a Lehman student, he gained hands-on media production experience at BronxNet, where he is now a freelance producer, videographer and editor.
"I'm very excited and honored to be nominated this year by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences," says Garaicoa. "These Emmy nominations recognize my latest achievements, but more importantly they also reflect the hard work and team spirit at BronxNet Television."
BronxNet is a private, independent, not-for-profit organization established under the requirements of the cable television franchise agreement between the City of New York and Cablevision of New York City. BronxNet programs are cablecast over Cablevision Channels 67, 68, 69 and 70, throughout the Bronx.
