Lehman College Community Band Concert March 25
Directed by Professor Alan Hollander, the band will perform Barnes's Latin march Mojaves Claves and Grantham's Southern Harmony, an exciting and unusual arrangement of eighteenth-century hymn tunes that couples the contemporary harmonies of the modern concert band with the simple American folk hymns widely known and sung throughout the South before the Civil War.
The concert will also highlight the Band's percussionists as they perform John Barnes Chance's Incantation and Dance. Euphonium soloist Walter Barrett will take on James Curnow's Fantasia Di Falcone and also perform a fast and furious piece entitled Tempus Fugit ("Time Flies"). Rounding out the program will be modern works by Aulio, Cesarini, and Ferran, as well as the Sousa march Riders for the Flag.
