Jazz Brass Band to Perform April 22 with New Saxophone Ensemble

Violin
The Lehman College "Lightning" Brass will celebrate the arrival of spring with a free jazz concert on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in the Hearth Room of the Music Building. Joining in the program will be the "Blue and Green" Saxophone Ensemble, a new performing group at the College that will make its debut appearance.

Featured on the program will be a variety of modern jazz arrangements, from smooth to funk, all for small ensembles. Distinguished Lecturer and noted tubist Bob Stewart will direct the performance. A professional tuba player for over 35 years, Professor Stewart has performed and recorded with artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, McCoy Tyner and Wynton Marsalis. He has also recorded three of his own albums for JMT and Postcard Records.
