Professor Gerardo Pina-Rosales
Professor Gerardo Piña-Rosales
Languages and Literatures Professor Gerardo Piña-Rosales, who won the eighth annual "Ayuntamiento and Casino de Lorca" Prize last year for his novel Desde esta cámara obscura (From this darkroom), will give a talk (in Spanish) on Friday, April 20, at 6 p.m. in Room 330 of the Music Building. Sponsored by the Theta Alpha Sigma Delta Pi honor society, this event is free and open to the public.

The talk will focus on his novel, which tells the story of a Spanish photographer forced into exile in Mexico after the Civil War. There he encounters intellectuals, artists, journalists, and others, also in exile, whom he photographs. When he finally returns to Spain, he realizes that the country of his childhood has changed, and he will forever be an outcast in his motherland.
