Student Selected as Campus Video Correspondent For 'CNNU' Section of CNN.com

Senior Sophia Tewa is one of 12 campus video correspondents selected nationwide to report this year for "CNNU," the section of the CNN.com website that reports on news and trends from college campuses.

The multilingual journalism major also interns for the semester at the 24-hour cable news station NY1 and is news editor of the Lehman student newspaper.

"I am very excited about this opportunity and will work closely with my advisor, Prof. Margot Mifflin, to submit relevant and newsworthy content," said Tewa. "It is also a chance to highlight Lehman's student life on one of the top news websites in America."

Learning about the opportunity from the Lehman chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Tewa sent a resume and cover letter to the network with some story ideas. Over the summer, she received word of her selection.

With plans to work in broadcast journalism after graduation, Tewa attributes her career choice to a love of literature and writing and curiosity about the world.

She was attracted to Lehman by its multilingual journalism program—which is the only program of its kind in the nation—and its affordability. "Lehman has given me the opportunity to obtain real-world experience in my chosen career path and has helped me to meet mentors along the way," she said.
