A Chance to Learn Chinese over Winter Break

An introductory course on written and spoken Chinese will be offered at Lehman during the Winter Session, running from January 2 through January 22. No prior study of Chinese is required. Students who successfully complete both this Winter class, CHI 101 (Elementary Chinese I), with CHI 102 in the spring semester will satisfy Lehman's foreign language requirement. The Winter class will meet Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Instructor Yifei Shen aims to enable students to communicate in Mandarin Chinese and write some of the most fascinating characters in the world. Study of the language will be complemented by a comparison of ancient and contemporary Chinese culture, exposure to traditional Chinese cuisine, and the experience of Chinese music and movies.
