The Bronx Institute's ENLACE Latino Collegiate Society will develop a comprehensive database and survey to support and enhance its work, thanks to a recent grant from the Hispanic in Philanthropy Funders' Collaborative for Strong Latino Communities.

"This grant will help us track the work of the program and its impact on students," notes Professor Herminio Martinez (Middle and High School Education), who is executive director of the Institute. More than a dozen Society alumni are currently enrolled as sophomores at colleges and universities nationwide. Last September, the Society enrolled its second cohort of forty ninth-grade students, who take Saturday courses at Lehman in math, reading, and writing, attend cultural events, and take part in extended college/career workshops.

Established in 2004 with a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, the Society provides enrichment programs to high-achieving Latino students with the goal of helping them successfully complete high school and move onto competitive college and universities.
