For the second time in three years, students from the Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music have been honored with an invitation to perform at Walt Disney World's "Magic Music Days." Four groups of student musicians, 109 in total, will travel with Celia Cruz faculty to Orlando on February 15 to perform in the Magic Kingdom, returning to New York on February 21.

Based upon audition tapes sent to Disney, the school's Symphonic Band, Major Orchestra, Select Choir, and Women's Choir were chosen to perform at the Galaxy Palace Theater in Tomorrowland, one of the themed attractions within Disney World. In addition to performing, the students will attend educational workshops with professional musicians, learning musical concepts and recording techniques.

"It is truly an honor to be performing in Disney World for the second time," said Penelope Jacono, an instructor. "The students get so much out of it, and everyone has a magical experience."

The Symphonic Band will perform Nestico's "Salute to American Jazz," Jager's "Espirit De Corps," Yagisawa's "Hymn to the Infinite Sky," and Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever." The Major Orchestra will play Grieg's Last Spring and Holberg Suite, Holst's St. Paul's Suite, and "Prayer for Peace" by Williams. The Select Choir will sing Wildhorn's "This is the Moment", Randall Thompson's "Alleluia," and a compilation of songs from the Seventies. The Overture to The Magic Flute, "Because" by the Beatles, and selected Motown hits will be presented by the Women's Choir.
