Dr. Baez to Discuss Her Book 'My Daughter's Eyes'

Dr. Annecy Baez, director of the Counseling Center, will read and discuss her book, My Daughter's Eyes and Other Stories, on Thursday, February 28, from 4-5 p.m. in the Treehouse Conference Room, located in the Leonard Lief Library. Sponsored by the Leonard Lief Library, this event is free and open to the public.

Winner of the 2007 Marmol Prize, My Daughter's Eyes is a compilation of fourteen short stories about young Dominican women living in the Bronx. The stories span three decades and deal with themes of child abuse, father-daughter betrayal, love, loss, and healing.

Dr. Baez earned master's and doctoral degrees from New York University and has been a clinical social worker for twenty-two years. She is a poet and fiction writer, and her literary work has appeared in Caudal, a Dominican journal; Tertuliando/Hanging Out, a bilingual anthology; and Callaloo. Her research interests include Dominican Americans and mental health issues in the Latino community.
