Alumna Climbs Corporate Ladder to Success

Lehman alumna Eileen Slevin ('76) has been named as the chief information officer at New York Life Insurance Company. Ms. Slevin, who earned her degree in English literature, has been with the company since 1977, starting out in the Group Insurance Department. Since then, she has been promoted to assistant vice president (1988), corporate vice president (1991), and vice president (1993). After a transfer to the Corporate Information Department (1995), she was elected senior vice president in 1999.

In her new position, she will oversee a staff of more than 1,300 technology professionals in six U.S. locations. She also will be responsible for setting the strategic technology direction for the firm, which provides a range of technology services to its customers, employees, and agents. In addition, she will have direct management responsibility for two other strategic areas of the company, business resilience and corporate internet.

Ms. Slevin has served two terms on the firm's Management Advisory Council and is currently a steering committee member of New York Life's Political Action Committee.
