Floriano Filho, a prominent Brazilian journalist and current Fulbright/APSA Congressional Fellow, will be giving a talk on U.S.-Brazilian relations at Lehman College on Monday, May 5, 2008. The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. in Carman Hall, Room 347 and is open to everyone.

"After achieving a solid macroeconomic situation and a stable democratic regime, Brazil is already among the world's nine largest economies in the world and is poised to play an increasing role in the globalized economy," said Filho. "Also, as a world leader in ethanol production and use, Brazil is expected to become a major oil exporter after the recent discoveries of offshore fields."

Filho has more than 20 years covering Brazil's economy and politics as a broadcast and print journalist. He has also served as communications assistant and acting spokesman at the Brazilian Ministry of Finance and the Internal Revenue Service.
