The program will include major excerpts from the famous oratorio Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn. Directed by Lehman Professor of Music Diana Mittler-Battipaglia and accompanied by the Lehman Symphony Orchestra, the 165-member chorus will also perform the exciting Polovetsian Dances by Borodin, as well as shorter works by Thompson and Copland. The program will also feature Dvorak's Slavonic Dance in C minor.
Members of the chorus and soloists include Lehman students, alumni, faculty and staff and a broad selection of residents from many communities in the Bronx and the greater New York area.
