Lehman's women's outdoor track and field team took first place at the 2008 CUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday, May 11. The men's team placed a close second.

"I couldn't be more pleased with the heart and determination shown," says Head Coach Lesleigh Hogg. "Both of these teams fought extremely hard, and that is all you can ask for as a coach."

On the women's side, sophomore Dorothy Jean-Pierre and freshmen Rama Bah and Lauren Lourick gave stellar performances. Jean-Pierre finished first in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:05:56. She also placed second in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:26:30. Bah's contributions included a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdle, as well as second place finish in the 400-meter hurdle and the long jump. Lourick won both the high jump and triple jump with leaps of 1.52 meters and 5.18 meters, respectively.

Sophomore Jillene Sennon also held her own during the tense day of competition as she finished third in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash.

In the men's competition, the Lightning came up one point shy despite putting forth their best efforts on the track. Standout Pete Charles was named the Most Outstanding Athlete of the competition. Charles paced his unit by capturing the long jump and triple jump competitions with leaps of 6.63 meters and 14.40 meters.

Senior Jase Franklyn also brought his best to the meet as he recorded a first place finish in the shot put, finishing with a score of 12.82 meters. He also placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.30 meters. In the javelin throw competition, Joseph Bodden and Victor Brooks finished in second and third.
