Education Professor Featured in New Documentary

Professor Stuart Chen-Hayes
The film focuses on the life and work of transgender activist Dr. Pauline Park, who led the successful campaign for the transgender rights law enacted by the New York City Council in 2002. Professor Chen-Hayes, who joined Dr. Park at the bill-signing ceremony with Mayor Bloomberg, served on the board of directors of the New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy. Dr. Park cofounded the association and currently serves as its chair.
Professor Chen-Hayes and his partner, Lance, first met Dr. Park in Chicago in 1995. The couple and their son make an appearance in the 32-minute-long video, which is directed by Larry Tung, an assistant professor in the Department of Media and Film at Kean University in New Jersey.
Following its New York premiere, the film will be screened on June 23 and 26 at the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival. For more information, visit the New Fest website.
