Irish-American Studies Institute Announces Fall Lecture, Performance Series

The Institute for Irish-American Studies at Lehman has lined up a series of free lectures this fall about the Irish in America and beyond, as well as performances of traditional Irish-American music.
Following is the schedule for the traditional Irish American music performance. All events take place in Carman Hall, Room 263.
- Event: Fiddle playing and dancing by performer Bernie Fee.
Date: Thursday, September 18
Time: 12-1 p.m. - Event: Musician Ivan Goff will play the uilleann pipes and flute.
Date: Thursday, October 18
Time: 12-1 p.m. - Event: Banjo player Donie Ryan will perform.
Date: Thursday, December 4
Time: 12-1 p.m
Following is the schedule for the Lecture Series. All events take place in Carman Hall, Room 263.
- Event: Professor Thomas Conroy (Sociology): "These Irish eyes are smilin', I'm buckwildin': Issues of working-class masculinity and race/ethnicity for Irish-Americans in punk and hip-hop.”

Time: 12-1 p.m. - Event: Eimear Ní Cheallaigh (Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant): "Baile an Droichid: A reflection of Gaeltacht life toward the end of the twentieth century."
