Folksbiene Logo
In honor of the 100th anniversary of the death of Abraham Goldfaden, Folksbiene and the City University of New York will present a series of free lectures and concerts featuring the works of the man widely considered to be the father of Yiddish theatre. All events will be held on the Lehman College campus, and are free and open to the public.

The series will begin with a talk on Tuesday, September 16, at 2 p.m. in Room 208 of Carman Hall. Prof. Alyssa Quint, a noted expert on Goldfaden's works, will discuss some of the author's most popular plays.

On Thursday, September 18, Folksbiene Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek will be a guest on Lehman Prof. William Hoffman's "Conversations" series. The show will begin taping at 2 p.m. in Room C-14 of Carman Hall. The series is aired on CUNY TV and Bronx Net.

The series will come to an end with a special concert by the National Yiddish Theatre group, Folksbiene, on Tuesday, September 23, at 2 p.m. in the Lovinger Theatre. The performance will feature a collection of songs that capture the joy, pathos, humor, and the soul of the Jewish people. Seating is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are free, but reservations are required. For tickets, call 718-960-8025.
