Distinguished Professor John Corigliano Wins Third Grammy

Distinguished Professor of Music John Corigliano picked up another Grammy Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition for Mr. Tambourine Man: Seven Poems of Bob Dylan at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, held on February 8. Hila Plitmann, who recorded the winning album, also won the Grammy for Best Classical Vocal Performance, making it two awards for the album.

This is Professor Corigliano's third Grammy—the first two were for String Quartet and Rage and Remembrance: Symphony No. 1. A recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in Music, the Grawemeyer Award, and the Academy Award for his score for the film The Red Violin, Professor Corigliano is regarded as one of the world's leading composers of orchestral, chamber, operatic, and film music, as well as a master teacher both at Lehman and at the Juilliard School, where he also teaches.
