Professor Rice to Speak at Rutgers

Professor Anne Rice (African and African American Studies) has been invited to speak at Rutgers University this Tuesday, March 10, as part of the University's celebration of the release of Representing Segregation, a special issue of the African American Review and forthcoming SUNY Press anthology.

Professor Rice's talk is titled “White Islands of Safety and Engulfing Blackness: Remapping Segregation in Angelina Weld Grimke's 'Blackness' and 'Goldie'." Her research interests include African American literature, United States modernism, representations of lynching in U.S. literature, diaspora studies, migration narratives, autobiography, and postcolonial theory.

A graduate of Smith College, Professor Rice holds an M.A. from Lehman College and an M. Phil. and Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center.
