Community Band to Give Free Concert March 29
Led by Professor Alan Hollander, the band will perform perennial favorites First Suite for Military Band by Gustav Holst and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, in addition to modern works by Curnow, Heed, and Kallman.
Featured will be special guest percussionists Morris Lang of the New York Philharmonic and Latin legends Bobby Sanabria, Memo Acevedo, Aldo Mazza, and Victor Rendon, performing the latter's arrangement of Mambo No 5. Also performing will be baritone horn soloist Walter Barrett, with his own arrangement of music from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Rounding out the program will be a medley of selections from the Broadway musical Les Miserables and the jovial Jamaican Rumba.
The Lehman College Community Band includes Lehman students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members.
