Professor Patricio Lerzundi's Series Wins Emmy

Professor Patricio Lerzundi
Prior to joining Lehman, Professor Lerzundi worked as Features Editor of United Press International and and Editor-in-Chief of a daily Spanish-language newspaper in New York. He is the author of the first style and reference manual for Latino journalists in the U.S. At Lehman, he was instrumental in establishing the Multilingual Journalism Program in 1994, which is the first of its kind in the country. He also served as chair of the Department of Languages and Literatures and has authored three scholarly books on the subject of Colonial Golden Age Theatre.
Accepting for CUNY-TV was Robert Isaacson, CUNY TV’s executive director, and Senior Vice Chancellor for University Relations Jay Hershenson. Nueva York is a series about Latino culture in New York. The thirty-minute show explores the rich textures of Latino society in the city, focusing on politics, art, culture, and the traditions of Spanish-speaking populations across the metropolitan area. Each episode features prominent leaders from the tri-state area’s cultural and public spheres, who share their thoughts and accomplishments with viewers.
